Onboarding a new company into the Peppol Network
A LegalEntity must be registered within our business registry to be a participant into the Peppol Network.
In Norway, companies are identified by their organisasjonsnummer, the 9-digit organisation number assigned by the Brønnøysund Register Centre (Enhetsregisteret, the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities).
Create the LegalEntity
You can create a LegalEntity via API with POST /legal-entities by specifying only its organisasjonsnummer:
{
"organisasjonnummer": "509100675"
}
The platform validates the number, looks it up in the Enhetsregisteret and fills in the company data (name and address) for you.
You will receive back an HTTP 201 with the LegalEntity you created, including the uuid that identifies it:
{
"uuid": "e69c700b-d034-4c38-872f-42c03fb95fda",
"registeredName": "Sesam stasjon",
"country": "NO",
"address": "Oslo",
"city": "Oslo",
"stateOrProvince": "Oslo",
"zipCode": "0010",
"identifierScheme": "iso6523-actorid-upis",
"identifierValue": "0192:509100675",
"smpEnabled": false,
"createdAt": "2026-10-02T10:00:00+00:00",
"updatedAt": null
}
The Peppol participant identifier is always built as 0192:{organisasjonsnummer}, where 0192 is the ICD code of the Enhetsregisteret.
Errors
| Status | When it happens |
|---|---|
HTTP 404 | the organisasjonsnummer does not exist in the Enhetsregisteret |
HTTP 409 | a LegalEntity with the same identifier already exists in your account |
HTTP 422 | the organisasjonsnummer is not made of 9 digits or its check digit is not valid or the organisasjonsnummer has been struck off (slettet) |
Claim the LegalEntity into the SMP
Once created, the LegalEntity is not yet reachable in the Peppol Network.
You can enable the record into the SMP and register it into the Peppol Network with PUT /legal-entities/{uuid}/claim.
The endpoint does not need a request body, and any body sent is ignored.
The company will be enabled to receive the EHF Billing 3.0 documents, both Invoice and CreditNote.
If the same participant identifier is already registered in the SMP by another account, you will receive an HTTP 409 error.
You can read the current SMP records of a LegalEntity at any time with GET /legal-entities/{uuid}/smp.
Unclaim the LegalEntity
To stop receiving documents through the Peppol Network, you can remove the records from the SMP with PUT /legal-entities/{uuid}/unclaim.
The LegalEntity record is kept in your account, so you can claim it again later. The response will be:
{
"enabled": false,
"capabilities": []
}
Delete the LegalEntity
You can delete a LegalEntity with DELETE /legal-entities/{uuid}. If the LegalEntity is claimed, its records are removed from the SMP as well.
The documents already exchanged by the LegalEntity are kept. If you create again a LegalEntity with the same organisasjonsnummer, the previous record is restored with the data currently present in the Enhetsregisteret.
